World's most efficient single-phase induction motor
Ideal for solar powered applications.
These single-phase induction motors have such high efficiency that they
can be operated from inverters powered by solar power. The efficiency of
each motor is equivalent to the full-load efficiency of a premium high-efficiency
three-phase motor. A unique patented connection of the motor windings to
a capacitor bank permits operation from a single-phase inverter delivering
alternating current from a battery kept charged by solar cells.
Small motors of 0.3 horse power (HP), 0.5 HP, and 0.75 HP have been
tested. They operate near unity power-factor, which is an ideal load for
an inverter. The capacitor bank has approximately the same leading reactive
VARS as the motor windings have lagging reactive VARS.
Greater energy conservation in the home.
High-efficiency polyphase motors can also be used on all air conditioners
and freezers for single-phase, saving substantial amounts of energy for
consumers, and reducing the severity of summer afternoon power system overloads
due to inefficient air conditioners.
Information on larger motors which are placed in
service.
These are the largest single-phase high-efficiency induction motors in
the world.
