Picture at left is of rock art in central Brazil.

Myrtle Shock is a PhD candidate in archaeology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Her dissertation project is looking at archaeobotanical remains from rock shelters on the Brazilian savanna to understand change in plant diet of prehistoric hunter-gatherers. Myrtle has recently analyzed agricultural remains from one of these rock shelters, and the resulting poster is linked below. Her past research focused on hunter-gatherers in the northern Great Basin, specifically how archaeological sites with petroglyphs fit into the settlement system.
